Write a letter to your local or regional newspaper - There are local and regional newspapers with very active letters pages, and these can be useful in raising awareness of the issue.

Please remember to keep the message brief and to the point, usually less than 200 words, and include your name address and telephone number. Always address it to the Letters Editor. You can send by post or by e-mail, with the latter being the fastest medium.

Click here (MS Word document) or here (PDF format) for the contact details for all the North East Letters Pages including e-mail addressess.

Contact your MP
- find out your MP's view on an elected assembly and lobby them to oppose one. Remember, your constituency MP has a duty to respond to you. Be brief and courteous and respect his / her position of office. You can also arrange a surgery visit to discuss their position. We will be publishing a full list of exactly where they stand on the website. There is enough information in the public domain for them to be up to speed on the matter so an obfuscated answer is not acceptable.

Click here and enter your postcode to find your MP's name and contact details.

Alternatively, use the handy service for contacting your MP provided by FaxYourMP.com - enter your postcode below to begin.

Contact Your Councillor -
Councillors in Districts and Counties which may suffer in the local government boundary reorganisation will be very concerned as to their positions and so it is particularly important that they are aware of the arguments. More details coming soon...

Contact Your Trade Union - Regional government will not only have consequences for the region's employers, but also the employees. In particular, the reorganisation and streamlining that will ensue from a massive shake-up in local government will undoubtedly lead to job losses.

The region's biggest union, UNISON, is actively and financially supporting elected regional government despite the concerns of its members. If you are a UNISON member and would like to make a complaint about your subscriptions funding the Yes Campaign or raise a concern, please contact them.
