Referendum04's
aims and objectives are simple and direct. Our aim is to force the Government
to concede that the EU Constitution represents such a monumental change
to the way that we, as a nation, are governed, that the issue must be put
to the people in a referendum.
|
|
The
implications of accepting this constitution will not only affect us, but
will also will bind future generations, and for a Government which made
no reference to these proposals in its manifesto it has a duty to put the
matter before the people.
|
|
We
have no allegiance to any organisations or political parties, but we will
work in association with everyone who agrees with our aims. In advance of
the referendum we will create platforms for debate and we will help create
literature and information for the public at large.
|
|
In
advance of a referendum we will have the debate where all sides from integrationists,
to sceptics, from federalists to withdrawalists can state their case and
the Government has a duty to allow this debate to take place. A full and
frank debate on the European Issue that has been denied for thirty years.
|
|
We will
accept the democratic result of any referendum but the issue is too big
to be left to the Government in office. We must allow 'The People to Decide.'
|
|
Referendum04
will also help expose those elected representatives who feel that the public
should be denied their voice in a referendum.

| The campaign
is being directed by European Campaigner of the Year 2001, Neil Herron,
who ran the high profile Metric Martyrs Campaign. |
